Atlantic Mutual Selects RelyData to Offer Policyholders Free Access to Identity Theft Restoration Services

New York, NY, (December 20, 2005) - Today Atlantic Mutual announced an agreement with RelyData to offer free identity theft restoration services to its Atlantic Master Plan policyholders with home coverage. The company said many of its independent agents have cited identity theft as a growing concern among affluent individuals. This service should distinguish Atlantic Mutual as providing the best solution for those clients.

"We looked very carefully at a number of companies that specialize in helping victims of identity theft, and we believe we have found a superb solution for our agents and policyholders in RelyData," noted Dan Olmsted, president of Atlantic Mutual. "While a few other carriers have contracted with similar companies, RelyData is the only identity restoration provider recommended by the credit reporting industry, and they will resolve any recurrences up to a year after the initial incident."

When a policyholder reports an identity theft loss, Atlantic Mutual will set him or her up to work directly with RelyData at no cost. Unlike many identity restoration firms, RelyData doesn't coach victims through the process. They do the work for the victims, acting on their behalf to deal with the credit bureaus, lenders and others as needed to restore their good name and expunge fraudulent information from personal records.

"The time and expense savings can be tremendous," said Garnet Steen, president of RelyData. "Without help, victims can spend more than $1,000 and 60 hours over months or years trying to restore their identities, and 25% still fail to undo all the damage. In contrast, working with us might take one or two initial phone calls and about an hour of gathering information. After that, we take over and report on our progress as needed to the victim."

RelyData follows a unique and rigorous series of steps to provide unmatched service. The steps include:

  • Assigning a personal case manager who works directly for the client;
  • Conferencing in a fraud specialist at the TransUnion Fraud Victim Assistance Division;
  • Reviewing all three credit reports to identify and document all fraud;
  • Notifying outside agencies, businesses and other institutions of the fraud;
  • Documenting the entire process for the client;
  • Sending activity reports, documentation and educational information to the client;
  • Following up with the client and outside entities until records are restored;
  • Reviewing with the client his or her options for monitoring and other preventative options;
  • Providing one year of support to resolve these or any new occurrence of fraud;
  • Optional monitoring of files to help spot and resolve new fraud occurrences.
Since the best solution of all is to prevent loss in the first place, Atlantic Mutual is also suggesting ways individuals can reduce their exposure to identity theft in the winter issue of its free SafetyWise online newsletter, which is available at www.atlanticmutual.com.
