ATLANTIC MUTUAL ADDS COVERAGE FOR "CYBER" DAMAGE
Computer Virus Attacks, Internet Credit Card Theft Among Additions to Personal Lines Policies
NEW YORK, NY, DECEMBER 4, 2001 -- Seeking to address the new concerns of the evolving digital economy, the Atlantic Mutual Insurance Company today announced that it is expanding its existing Atlantic Master PlanĀ® (AMP) and Distinctive Home (DH) personal lines insurance policies. The enhancements include coverage for identity fraud, theft of credit card numbers over the Internet, losses due to computer viruses, and losses to business property in the home. In addition the policy now provides up to $25,000 of coverage for the loss of earnings, loan application fees for rejected loans, attorney's fees, and the cost of notarizing affidavits for law enforcement agencies.
"In this technology-driven society, the areas of vulnerability to property loss or theft have expanded enormously," said Daniel H. Olmsted, senior vice president, Personal Insurance Division, Atlantic Mutual Insurance Company. "By expanding our AMP and DH policies to address these concerns, we are continuing our commitment to provide the most comprehensive personal lines coverage in the insurance industry today."
Atlantic Mutual has also revised and broadened several key definitions and coverages in the AMP and DH policies. The definition of money has been expanded to include loss of or unauthorized use of scrip, smart cards or debit cards. Grave marker coverage has been expanded to include mausoleums, and the tree removal coverage now includes fallen trees that block driveways or handicapped-access ways even if the trees haven't damaged covered property. A total of 17 enhancements are now available. Atlantic Mutual Insurance's personal lines policies already provided a range of personal property coverages at limits far above industry standards, including fine arts and collectibles, jewelry and furs; coverage for land restoration; coverage for lost or misplaced property and home banking theft losses.
